Registration for PAX Prime 2011 is now open. The event will take place in Seattle from August 26th through the 28th, just after this year's brand-new PAX Dev conference, which will bring together game designers, artists, programmers and producers to discuss their craft.
"The idea started with friends in the game dev community asking us to host an event where they could really focus on exchanging ideas without any distractions," said Penny Arcade's Robert Khoo of the new convention. "There are events that are great for signing your next deal or promoting your current project, but that’s not PAX Dev. We’re 100 percent focused on the craft of game development."
PAX Dev will take place August 24th through the 25th at the Sheraton Seattle Hotel, ending just a day before fans swarm in for the main event. Early registration for PAX Dev costs $249 ($329 at the door) and only around 170 tickets will be sold. Of course, we non-industry-professionals don't have to worry about all that - PAX Prime registration is $60 for a three-day pass, or $35 for an individual day.
We'll be there again this year for another goof-about. If you couldn't make it to Boston for PAX East, this is your chance to experience something which may or may not look like this:
