Sony and Zipper Interactive are aiming to curb pre-owned purchases of SOCOM 4: U.S Navy Seals by shipping all new copies with a one-time access code for SOCOM Pro – a members-only club filled with content and multiplayer perks that will otherwise be sold for $15 to those who buy used.
As outlined on the US PlayStation Blog, players who join SOCOM Pro (via the free code or after market purchase) will get a pair of exclusive weapons, the M-16 and A-47. The membership will also grant immediate access to special “Pro” customized multiplayer modes including Community Day Classic, an 8-vs-8 match that incorporates classic maps; Last Defense Run 'n Gun, a ramped up version of the Last Defense gametype using shotguns and sub-machine guns; SCRUM, a supression mod governed by classic rules; and Sniper Alley, an augmented supression mode with a preset weapon selection and special rules.

Over and above the launch freebies, those who sign on to SOCOM Pro are also promised a slew of free future content. Those who do not, and still plan to buy used, will have to wait until April 26th when SOCOM Pro becomes available on the PlayStation Network.
That Sony would pursue an online pass for SOCOM 4 is not surprising considering more and more studios are going in this direction as a means to capitalize on the pre-owned market. Is $15 too much to ask for two new weapons, a handful of custom maps and promise of future goodies? We'll see if consumers bite when the game is released tomorrow.
