According to the PlayStation Blog, the latest PlayStation Network outage could last for "a full day or two." Sony did not comment on the cause of the outage, though speculation has it that it may be the work of hacktivist group Anonymous, which targetted Sony during its lawsuit against PS3 hacker George Hotz.
Despite Sony and Hotz reaching a settlement, Anonymous does not appear to be backing down. However, at least one Anonymous sect declared a PSN ceasefire, saying that hurting gamers would "defeat the purpose" if its actions. Nevertheless, without central organization, it is possible that other self-described Anonymous members have taken up the cause by taking down PSN.
"The consumers in this are as one might call, collateral damage," said one someone, who goes by Takai, in a recent statement to PlayStation LifeStyle.
