In the wake of other disaster themed games cancelled after the March 11 earthquake and tsunami in Japan, many wondered if Sony had quietly abandoned Tokyo Jungle as well. The survival action game takes place in a Tokyo that appears to have been ravaged by a disaster that has wiped the metropolis of any signs of human life. However, a new preview in this week's Famitsu and on Famitsu.com shows that developers are still hard at work, and that the game is scheduled to release later this year.

Tokyo Jungle puts players in the role of various household animals who must survive after a major disaster wipes out the city's human population. Last year's TGS demo featured a plucky Pomeranian. After completing each animal's story, players will find out what exactly killed all the humans in the city.
A mode called “survival” will also be included with the game. Players choose between 55 different species of animal and must find food around the city in order to grow.
