After playing the new Army of Darkness Defense for the iPhone, which just launched today, we have to say that it’s pretty bad Ash. Based on the final scene in the Army of Darkness film, the defend-the-castle game finds you fending off hordes of baddies with your trusty boom stick and Bruce Campbell’s many legendary one-liners.
As you progress, you can summon in reinforcements purchased from the castle smithy and upgrade your powers with all kinds of fun skills, like the wrong version of the Necronomicon, which sucks demons into it.
According to developer Backflip Studios (Paper toss, NinJump), Army of Darkness Defense will only be on sale for a limited time, starting today. It’s possible that the short shelf life has to do with licensing issues, as the game features lots of lines and dialogue from the MGM film. We just got the iPhone version for 99 cents. But the iPad version will set you back $2.99.

Favorite Bruce Campbell quote: Good. Bad. I’m the guy with the gun. What’s yours?
Like most iPhone game affairs, it’s a pretty basic title. But if you consider yourself a fan of the Evil Dead series, we recommend checking it out.
