The game has hardly been announced, but leaky faucets and antsy retailers are all over Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, or, as GameStop refers to it, "the upcoming installment in the biggest action video game series of all time."
Today, the eager retailer verified already-verified reports that it will be offering a free poster with pre-orders, and added a bit of mystery to the announcement.
"You have to wait until this fall to play the game, but if you want this bonus, you have to pre-order now," reads GameStop's statement. "Only the first 500,000 fans that pre-order at GameStop will get exclusive information embedded in a two-sided Modern Warfare 3 poster."
Regular posters are just OK, but GameStop has posters which contain exclusive embedded information?! INFORMATION?! I love information! I'll overuse italic type for information! So what kind of information?! Visual information?! I think I see some of that! There's text too! Oh, or is it just the other side of the poster, which leaked the other day? Well, that's cool and stuff. I mean, it is information and all, so I guess it's cool.
Tangentially-related update: The first MW3 gameplay footage will debut in a trailer airing this Monday during the NBA Western Conference Finals. If you don't feel like watching basketball, or can't, follow Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling for the link. We'll probably write something about it, too.
