Modders build bin Laden's hideout in Counter-Strike: Source (Counter-Strike: Source)

As tireless gamz jarnalists, we realize it's our responsibility to keep you updated on the “big stories.” That's why we realize that the PSN outage and potential Xbox 720 aren't the only items floating around the media sphere these last few days: we're now able to report that Osama bin Laden, the world's most notorious terrorist and occupant of the FBI's Most Wanted List for the last ten years, has had his high-security Pakistan compound recreated within Counter-Strike: Source (and also, been killed).

The map, based on publicly known information about the Abbottabad compound's layout and dimensions, “may be used be used as a base for a bomb or hostage map at a later stage,” says its creator, Fletch. Beyond that, though, it's a great example of games' application as documentary tools for exploring news stories from a fresh angle – not to mention the community's desire to do so. (Or maybe you just want a new place to shoot your friends.) The map's available for free download and exploration from Game Banana.
