Good news for Star Wars fans waiting to play the beta for BioWare’s Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO. The developer has announced that “Beta Test Weekends” will begin this September. “These weekend play sessions will be open to selected players worldwide and create an opportunity for fans to get a sneak peek of the epic stories, worlds, quests, battles and characters in the game,” explains BioWare’s Dr. Ray Muzyka.
You can head to the official SWTOR website to register for the upcoming beta test. While you’re there, do yourself a favor and sign up for GamesRadar’s SWTOR guild. Head to the community tab, click on guilds, and search for GR Dark. In case you can’t tell, we’ve decided to align ourselves with the Empire and the Dark Side with our Sith-friendly collective of casual players.
If you want to lock in your chance to play SWTOR before it launches later this holiday season, three pre-order packages for the game are now available for pre-order and guarantee you early access.
Priced at $79.99, the Digital Deluxe version is available as an exclusive via EA’s Origin service. In addition to early game access, the Digital Deluxe version includes the following in-game items:
- Color Stone: changes color of Lightsaber blades and blaster bolts
- Flare Gun: Fire flares into the air
- Training Droid: Hovers at your side for combat assistance
- HoloDancer: Project your own holographic dancer
- HoloCam: Keep visual records of in-game adventures
- STAP: Sleek and unique in-game vehicle
The $149.99 Collector’s Edition offers a lot more swag, but supplies are limited and at the time of writing, it seems that copies are quickly selling out. In addition to the in-game items listed above for the Digital Deluxe version, here’s what’s offered in the limited Collector’s Edition:
