Valve has just released the second volume of its Songs to Test By series, digital-download albums of music from Portal 2. When the first release dropped, many assumed it was just a faux-generous taster designed to rope you in before jacking up the price for the complete album – but that cynicism has been put in its place as the second 18-track bundle, once again, carries a price-tag of exactly zero dollars and zero cents. Even during this tough new economy, that’s a pretty great bargain.

The second batch of Songs to Test By can be downloaded from Thinking With Portals, which is also hosts ringtones, the original release and (eventually) the third installment, too. Are you flabbergasted at what a good deal you're getting, or is this music worth about what you're paying for it? If the tracks inspire you to new creative heights – or if you're just desperate to get something more out of the whole affair – there's still a little over a week to get an entry in for the somewhat-related Portal 2 music video contest...
